Brush your extensions with a wet brush before getting in the shower to prevent tangles and matting. Using a sulfate-free moisturizing shampoo and conditioner will prolong both your hair color and hair extension color. Be sure to shampoo gently between the rows and avoid vigorous scrubbing.
Use a leave-in conditioner after towel-drying your hair, before drying your extensions. Use a styling oil after you blow dry your extensions. Always start from your ends and work your way up to your scalp when brushing wet hair. Hold your hair in one hand like a ponytail and brush down.
Healthy Hair
Brush three times a day, with recommended brush. Brush row by row, scalp to ends, starting form the nape up. Always pull into a scrunchy while sleeping or any activity that has your hair blowing in the wind. If you have curly hair, brush once in the morning and once at night. Use a wet brush to gently remove tangles from mid-shafts to ends. Do not use a comb at the scalp area or bond.
(This will help prevent tangling or matting)
Styling Your Extensions
Use your hands and fingers to rough-dry your hair 80% of the way. Do not tug at your extensions with a round brush or comb.
No ponytails put up and left wet.
When using curling irons, flat irons and hot rollers, keep them at a safe distance from the Great Lengths bond, approximately one and half inches from the bond. Do not use a blow dryer on the bond area and medium heat only.
If you are curling your extensions, run the hair extensions through the curling iron once or twice to smooth the hair before placing any curls. Doing this allows for a more polished look that is close to the cuticle and prolongs your extension hair. Be sure to use heat protectant and detangler from a high-quality brand.
Sleeping With Your Extensions In
Before going to bed, brush your extension hair out and place in a loose ponytail or braid.
